We started our steps into homesteading when we moved to our now property in Parkland County, Alberta in the summer of 2020.

Growing up on a farm when I moved to Alberta I fell in love with the ways of providing, responsibility and pride of taking care of the animals and the intentional side of living.

My husband who grew up on an acerage also shared the same love of being a jack of all trades and having visions come to life.

I always had a love of sheep and was always in awe of them, quite a few years ago I became familiar with Olde English Southdown Babydoll Sheep and always hoped that one day we would be able to have the opportunity to have them along with many other animals.

When I was wondering how to shift and transition our wood making business into something else more homestead with a kick of Nordic inspired furnishings that would bring life to some of my heritage and decor I was struggling with how and what baby steps it would take to get there.

Then one day out of the blue, we went from no steps to a full step.

We made the drive to bring home our first two Olde English Southdown Babydoll Sheep.

We learned lots the first year, the hard difficult learning curves, and the knowledge and experience that put smiles on our faces and our hearts full of joy.

I always admired not only the obvious teddy bear sweetness of their faces, but their demeaner and docileness.

Their wool is cashmere grade and they are easy to handle being approx 24" shoulder height.

They are an Olde English Heritage Breed that is now making their way provincially more and more.

Learning and connecting with breeders from all over and afar, I came across the unique and not so common "Spotted Babydolls".

After seeing them I then made a new vision of eventually being able to add one to our flock to be able to bring more into Canada as they are not so common like the states and Europe.

Then again, going from no step to a huge one, we purchased our first Spotted Babydoll Ram.

We are so excited to see what he brings to our flock and to watch it evolve as the years come.

Here's to starting the unknowns!
